Nevada car tax
Nevada charges a yearly Governmental Services Tax (GST) in place of property tax, paid with DMV registration. The tax is 4% of a DMV value equal to 35% of the original MSRP, reduced each year to a 15% floor. Clark and Churchill counties add a 1% supplemental GST.
NRS 371. Basic GST = 4% × (35% of MSRP) × depreciation: 100%, 95%, 85%, 75%, 65%, 55%, 45%, 35%, 25%, then 15% floor. The minimum is $16. Clark and Churchill counties add a 1% supplemental GST on the same value (supplemental is 1/4 of the mills shown). Mills are per $1 of original MSRP. Age counts from the model year.

Cut what your car costs in Nevada
Car tax is set by your town, but your loan and insurance aren't. Refinancing a car loan at a lower rate often saves more each year than the tax itself.
